Devotion The Mystic Series Book 7 edition by BC Burgess Paranormal Romance eBooks

It's been much too long since I've read a book from the Mystic Series (mainly because I've been doing read-for-reviews with a lot of indie authors), but I finally found the time to dive back into the lives and Layla and Quin. And boy was it a welcome return. I didn't realize how much I missed these characters until I started reading this book.

I've missed the love Quin and Layla have for one another, as well as their families. It's so refreshing to see a story where despite bad things happening, characters can still find the time to be happy. Oh, and my cheeks definitely hurt from smiling so much. There's just so much love on display, you can't help but smile. The scene where Layla reunites with her family is one of these times. Alana anyone? Enough said!

Devotion picks up where the previous book leaves off, with Layla heading back to her family after dealing with the darkness that is the Dark Guild. They haven't given up on ridding the world of her though and continue to come for her life. Quin and her family don't take this this lying down though! They shore up their defenses and with this shoring up comes a new ally(?), Aradia.

Bugress has always done a great job crafting characters with their own stories outside of Layla and Quin that have their own consequences, characters that are easy to love and/or hate, and Aradia is no exception. I won't say too much about her and her story or intentions so as not to spoil anything but she is an interesting character I can't get enough of that adds quite a bit to our main heroine's story.

Layla's fight with the DG this go round is by way of mostly mental attacks, something our angel hasn't encountered as of yet. It's something that shook her to her core, and understandably so. But seeing her family and friends rally around her warmed my heart to no end. Layla and Quin have to suffer through so much being who they are, and seeing them triumph whenever they do, is always a welcome sight. But as I said before, their bout with the DG is one dealing with things they haven't encountered before, Layla and Quin both, seeing them fight enemies who wield powers they yet to learn to defend themselves against had my heart in an impossibly tight vicegrip.

I forgot how easily I find myself lost in the happenings of these books, how caught up I get, how breathless I become. That's how well these books are written, how immersive the world is, how gripping the tales are. Ava, I love this series! I can't wait for the next book!

Devotion The Mystic Series Book 7 edition by BC Burgess Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews

This book was simply amazing. I don't know how B.C. Burgess does what she does. I felt every emotion imaginable in this book. You still get your suspense while also seeing some much needed downtime for Q & L. You really get to see how the coven works as a whole on a daily basis and it is much needed after the last few books. Burgess also introduces us to some new characters that you will either love or hate. From beginning to end I was held captive. You can never go wrong with a book written by B.C. Burgess!
This is the best of the best of Bonnie's work! My emotions are all over the place right now and I don't do spoilers so there is not a thing I can mention of this story without giving something away that may spoil it for others. I will say this, if you haven't read any of the Mystic Series then stop and read from book one to this totality awesome book. It is a cliff hanger but it will be so worth it to you to read this book and not miss a bit of the back story. Quin and Layman have the most beautiful love for each other and as I read every word with awe I belong to her reading group on Facebook and I understand now why she would say she was crying as she wrote this one. I cried beautiful tears at times and sad ones when the sadness built. This has been a beautifully journey for me as well as a heartbreaking one as well. Bonnie you are a beautiful person to bring so much to your readers. Three words, buy it today!
This is not my favorite book of this series so far, but I do like it. Devotion is the perfect title for it, because there are a lot of pages written to express various types of devotion. Quinn and Layla are still the perfect couple with the kind of relationship we all wish we could have. The is an entirely extra layer of cute with Benzio and the triplets.

The Dark Guild has truly nasty, bloodthirsty villains. The play they make at the end of the book is truly heart stopping.

My only concerns with the book are these the book is a little long on pages that repeat the same language of devotion, and the part of the book about Quinn's Christmas gift for Layla is a little over the top.

Otherwise, I truly enjoyed spending more time with them, their clan, and their friends. Mystic remains one of my favorite adult paranormal series.
Devotion rewards the Mystic Series readers with lots of coven family time that we have craved since reading Destruction and Devastation! I savored all the sweet tender and fun moments with Quin, Layla and the coven and I couldn't get enough of the time with family and friends. However, be warned that the book starts out with heart stopping anxiety and action and introduces more evil characters and plots that unfold in the book. Then there is the epilogue that took me totally by surprise and left me shell shocked. I loved Devotion!
I don't know how B.C. Burgess does it! Each book seriously just keeps getting better and better.

Devotion takes place right after Devastaion and provides the reader with some much needed family time. My favorite part about this book is that you really get a chance to take a see Layla and Quin interact with their family on a daily basis. I really don't think any other author could have pulled this off the way Burgess does. Yet despite all the amazing family time there are also some bad guys around the corner that provide some suspense as well. You get to meet some great new characters, see more of your favorite relationships, and experience Quin and Layla a whole new way. I couldn't have asked for a better continuation of the story than what I read!

As always, I'm anxiously awaiting the next book, and not just because the epilogue took me to a whole new level of being mind blown.
